Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 10 to 15 mins.
- 2 cups / 500 ml all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon / 15 ml baking powder
- 1 tablespoon / 15 ml white sugar
- 1 teaspoon / 5 ml salt
- 2/3 cup / 150 ml butter
- 2 cups / 500 ml grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup / 250 ml milk
Preheat the oven to 350 F (convection oven) or 375 F (non-convection oven). Put the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, white sugar, and salt) together in a large mixing bowl. Stir till well combined. Use a pastry tool and add the butter mixing until it is a coarse consistency. You can also use knives to cut the butter into the dry ingredients. Mix the cheese in until well combined. Add the milk and stir until the dough balls up, all the flour is absorbed, and the dough comes away from the walls of the bowl.
On a clean surface, spread some flour out and put dough on the surface. Knead the dough about 20 to 30 times. Using the palm of your hand spread the dough out. It should be about ½ inch thick or about 2 centimeters. Use a small glass to cut out circular biscuits. Place them evenly on a greased or lined cookie sheet and put them in the oven.
In about 10 to 15 minutes they will be done. You can tell they’re done when they have golden brown tops.
Serve with butter or really anything.
